He started in January 2022 by doing odd jobs and repairs to make some extra cash.
He spends 80 hours a month on his side hustle.
He was doing jobs like installing car entertainment systems, assembling furniture, repairs or restorations and gardening.
Ioannis used the app Airtasker, which connects people with tasks to local services, to find work.
Since starting out, he has earned £20,000, using his money for new tools and to go travelling.
Ioannis told the Mirror: “My main job is a web developer and engineer and I am working a lot of hours.
“I was looking for ways to take some time away from the screen and I found Airtasker and joined. I like building furniture and helping people so it seemed like the right fit for me.
“Now it is growing and growing.”
He started out on his own but now has another man who helps him with some of the tasks.
Ioannis once worked through the night assembling a trampoline for a client for their child’s surprise birthday party.
He said: “I started this as a hobby. I pick the jobs I want to. I don’t have to complete every job on the app.
“My clients understand how I enjoy this job and I am not just doing this to make money and that is something that keeps them happy. For me, it is very important as I feel like my clients like my services.”
Ioannis earns £901 for painting, £624 for handyman work, £554 for gardening, £485 for electrical work and £416 for furniture assembly per month.
Airtasker recommends getting a tax expert to help you if you use the app to earn extra income.
They advise keeping a record of all the tasks you do, as all income earnt may be taxable depending on your location.
